Facebook Launches Verified Pages and Profiles:Now be sure if you are following the real Salman!

Facebook today took a long overdue step of launching Verified Pages and Profiles.

Salman Khan is for real on facebook, what about the rest?

Facebook is a place where many celebrities, journalists, sportpersons etc have immense fan following.
But not always do we know if the person we are following is the real deal.



For example if you search for Salman Khan you get over 12 pages which seems to have a fair numbers of fans following them. So how do we know which one is the real Dabangg?

Well see the little blue tick on the first image, that is the indication that the "Wanted"actor is the real deal while the rest are fake or mere fanpages.

Users can determine the 'verified' accounts with the blue tickmarks, placed next to their names on the Timeline, in search results, and across Facebook – similar to Twitter's verified accounts icon.

Twitter had initially introduced the concept of verified accounts and uses a similar blue icons with white checkmarks to show the verified accounts. Pinterest recently introduced the verified accounts format to its network.

Amitabh Bhachachan and Priyanka Chopra were found to have real active profiles on Facebook

While those of Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik and Katrina were found to be fan pages or fakes!

So time to spring clean your likes pages, unless you want to follow some spammer!
