UMI X2: Stocks clear customs finally, deliveries to start from tuesday?

Been sitting on this news for quite some time now and this is indeed the best news in weeks! The UMI X2 has finally cleared the final hurdle of customs and the first batch is being processed as I type this.

It all started off couple of hours ago (on saturday,15th June 2013 ) when some of my readers reached out to out facebook page and asked us about this strange new update by UMI.

We were surprised too as it did not say anything out specifically but looks like a very positive note, almost like a victory note J. Then the text and updates started a few of our readers confirmed that they have started getting calls from UMI about confirming their address for delivery.

We reached out to our source in China for a confirmation of the news and indeed it was true! They had a harrowing time at customs, but that is a story for some other day, and finally had to “work” things out to get the first lot released. The subsequent lots will hopefully not face such scrutiny hopefully.

Delivery confirmation lists will start getting updated on the Facebook page from Tuesday. The PayTM refund confirmations are also being updated continuously. Its been a long long wait for the consumers now. But equally if not more stressful has been the lives of the people behind UMI in India. Perhaps once the deliveries start we can show you what a rollercoaster of a ride it has been for the team UMI.

The first batch of the phones will be the same what the consumers had booked i.e, Quad Core MT6589 powered UMI X2 with, 1080p screen protected Corning Gorilla Glass, 32GB inbuit memory (ROM) expandable to 64GB via micro SD card slot and 2GB RAM. Primary camera is 13MP AF and secondary 2MP front facing camera.

It’s a little good news and hopefully not too late, fingers crossed and waiting in anticipation for more news. We will keep you posted dear readers!
