When Android 4.2 was introduced it bought about a significant change for tablets: multi-user profiles which allowed each member of the family (or organization), to have their own profile, complete with app, homescreen, and setting independence. The newly announced Android 4.3 from Google takes multi-user accounts to the next level with introduction of "Restricted profiles". Allowing the tablet owner to have precise control over the other user accounts on the device.
For example the next time you give your kid to play her favorite angry birds game and are worried that she might end up getting you a mammoth bill in In_App_Purchases then voila- a restricted profile set up for her will insure this feature is totally absent and she blows the piggies and not your pockets!
More cool features like mature content filtering, access to games and user-generated content, and even specific applications can be restricted. Developers will also be able to offer specific controls within their applications using the Restricted Profile API.
Restricted Profiles is available in Android 4.3, which is currently rolling out to the Nexus 4, 7, 10, and Galaxy Nexus
