Nokia Lumia 625 and Lumia 925 officially launched in India at 19999INR and 33499INR!

Nokia has officially added two spunky new members in its Lumia family- The Nokia Lumia 625 and the Nokia Lumia 925. These phone come with a unique set of fetures of their own and above all with Amber update for Windows Phone 8 giving them the much needed basic features to compete against the dominant Android and iOS ecosystems.

The Lumia 925 is basically an upgrade for the older Lumia 920 and comes with Amber update that gives it the much needed edge over other Lumia's currently in the market. Key features of the Lumia 925 are as follows

Nokia Lumia 925 Specifications
  • 4.5-inch (1280 × 768 pixels) Pure Motion HD+ Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen ClearBlack display
  • 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor
  • Windows Phone 8 OS with Amber update
  • 8.7MP camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), Autofocus, short pulse  high power dual LED flash, 1080p HD video recording at 30fps
  • 1.2MP 720p HD front-facing camera
  • IHF speaker, 2 microphones, HD voice  compliant, 3.5mm audio jack and FM Radio

  • 2000mAh battery, Wireless charging supported via accessory cover
As you can see apart from the camera there is not much difference between the older Lumia 725 and the Lumia 925. So unless you are a true diehard Nokia fan I do not see any reason why on earth anybody should spend 34000 on the Lumia 925. But then MKBHD seems impressed in his review

The Lumia 625 is also a minor upgrade to the Lumia 620 and comes with the following specs under the hood

Nokia Lumia 625 specifications
  • 4.7-inch (800 x 480 pixels) display at 201 ppi, Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection
  • 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8930 processor

  • 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS / aGPS,,A-GPS+GLONASS
  • 2000 mAh battery
Quite frankly in terms of Hardware the Lumia 720 is a better deal than the Lumia 625. We do not see any reason why one would spend 5000INR more on the Lumia 625 priced at a steep 19999INR!! Perhaps a price correction is needed and fast or else one would not see much sales of this newbie in India atleast because we are yet to see any serious 4G action which is a USP of the Lumia 625
