Micromax A110Q: Canvas2 Plus, good just got better!

As I sit to write this hot piece of news I look down upon my own Canvas2 with a sense of Nostalgia. It was my first true Smartphone, the one reason why perhaps after being tech Junkie who trawled tech blogs day in and out finally took the leap of faith in becoming a blogger on my own here at GizChai.

Well for those of who missed the original bestseller Micromax is rewarding you with the Micromax A110Q or aptly titled the Micromax Canvas2 Plus!.

And as the name suggests it is still the same phone, only the internals have received a major upgrade.

The phone now runs on a Quad Core MT6589 Chipset, RAM is now upto 1GB and the OS has been upgraded to Android 4.2 (which means my phone remains at 4.1 unless some enterprising people at xda developers port this ROM to the Canvas2 :)

The front facing camera too has been upgraded to 2MP. Pricing is officially listed as 12000INR.

Apart form that everything remains more or less the same

  • Dual SIM / Dual Standby.
  • 1.2GHz quad core (MT6589) with PowerVR SGX 544 GPU.
  • Android 4.2 OS.
  • 5 inch IPS screen with 854×480 pixel resolution with 262K colors.
  • 1GB RAM, 4GB internal storage (1GB as phone storage and 1.4GB for apps) and micro SD slot.
  • 8MP rear auto focus camera with LED flash + front 2MP camera.
  • 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, micro USB and 3.5mm audio jack.
  • Sensors: G-sensor, proximity and motion sensors.the
  • Battery : 2000 mAh with up to 6 hours talktime.
But we would suggest you consider the phones in the competition before making up your mind here, for 12k if you don't mind waiting the UMI S1 is a great alternative and comes with an HD screen too, or even the Zopo Zp980 which comes with full HD screen.

The Micromax Doodle is a good alternative too or the Zen Ultrafone if you want to stick to Indian Companies.
