Wammy Desire II- Quad Core Exynos Tablet a rebranded Hyndai T7?

When I write about Chinese OEMs who are trying to enter into the Indian markets and the struggles they are facing with the delivery schedules I often get feedback from readers to stay away from Chinese brands and their phones.

What we must realise today is the fact that most, if not all phones are made in China.Take the slew of tablet releases India saw today, the Wammy Desire 2 for instance. This Exynos 4412 Quad core powered 7 inch tablet comes with 1GB of RAM and options for android 4.0 stable version or 4.2.1 Jelly Bean test version of android for those who are ready to risk it.

On Paper this tablet boasts of impressive specs 3G via USB dongle, HDMI output support, built in GPS, 3.5mm earphone jack and a light weight of 298 grams and featuring a 3300mAh battery.

No compare this with the original- The Hyndai T7, the picture speaks for itself

Same poster different names and different location in the logo branding perhaps :)

The only difference of buying this tab here would be the Hyndai logo and the huge Wammy Wickedleak logo!

The Hyndai T7 is listed on Chinese reseller site aliexpress at 131USD(7047INR approx)

Thus the pricing of 9999INR(10,398INR in fact, shipping extra!!) by Wickedleak justifies the cost of import, branding, and a neat profit of 1000-2000INR a piece. This also translates to a 12 month warranty Wickedleak provides (makes us wish we were rebranding and selling mobiles too sigh! ;))

You don't spend on advertising too when you rebrand! just photoshop maybe!

Moral of the story- Next time someone tells you he/she is buying an Indian branded tablet and you are a moron to buy a chinese OEM tell them thus "What you see may be Chinese, what you dont see is definately chinese!"
