Xiaomi is fast on its way to become the "People's Apple", the popularity of its phone are undeniable and yet not many people acknowledge the massive popularity and rabid craze Xiaomi fans have on their favorite company and rightly so!
At a price that translates to 8000INR (in todays inflated exchange rates) the Xiaomi red rice offers a 4.7inch HD screen with 1.5Ghz Quad Core MT6589T chipset, 1GB RAM, MIUI V5, 8MP primary camera (by Samsung) and 1.3MP front facing camera!
Unfortunately the company is making only 100000 phones in the first production run which is being sold through Chinese Social networking site Qzone. Good news is that at this rate the company will have enough orders for a 100 production runs!
Little wonder the company booked RMB13.27 billion ($2.15 billion) in revenue for the first six months of this year, exceeding the amount it recorded for the whole of last year, which stood at RMB12.6 billion. The 7.03 million devices sold in the first six months this year was also just shy of the 7.19 million units that Xiaomi sold during the whole of 2012.
However if you planning to get this phone by hook or crook don't waste your breath as this is a China exclusive phone and does not support any other network outside TD-SCDMA.
